Welcome to Country Images - countryimages

Welcome to Country Images! I'm an explorer, nature lover, and photographer whose mission is to capture the beauty that is all around us. That might be an beautiful person, an awe inspiring landscape, or a rarely seen wild creature. My goal is to capture the scene with my Nikon and share it with you. I have always photographed a wide range of subjects, and still do. My most photographed subjects tend to be nature, landscapes, and people. This gallery is a showcase for an eclectic mix of some of my favorite images from each of those categories, plus a few more.  I think the best way to view them is by clicking the slideshow button, but you can also just click on a selected image to view a larger size. The Art tab above is where you will find the images that I think will look great hanging on your wall. Some of them took a considerable investment in time and effort to capture. All images have to be enhanced after capture to complete the photograph. Digital capture is amazing but the image is flat and lifeless right out of the camera. The camera is after all just a tool that captures data about a scene. It does not see it the same way we do. Ansel Adams said "you don't take a photograph, you make it". So, creating my images encompasses many things including my vision, planning, being in the right place at the right time, and the transformation from the raw image into the scene I actually witnessed. Some of these images have very little done to them, yet others are worked on more meticulously. I now use Photoshop CC almost exclusively for transforming my captures into what I was seeing at the moment the shutter was released. My goal is to take the RAW camera data and create an image as close to what I visualized in my mind's eye, as possible. Sometimes this requires blending two or three images to reproduce the same dynamic range as the human eye. My hope is that I can share a small part of the beauty our country has to offer. If you would like to invest in some of my art; I will work with you to determine the best size, paper type, mounting, matting, and framing for the piece. I partner with one of the top photo labs in the country to print my work. I do some printing myself, but the photo lab has many additional size, mounting, and print protection options. They do an outstanding job printing and mounting my artwork. My images are printed with archival quality inks on fine art papers. After receiving the print from the lab I inspect it for any imperfections, making sure it meets my rigorous standards. If it does, the print is then signed by me. This is my way of assuring you that this piece of art that has been inspected and approved by the artist. I will also personally guarantee any art piece I sell. If you are not completely satisfied with your art, return it within 30 days for a refund. I am passionate about creating art that you will be proud to display in your home or business. The Stock tab is a collection of all my images by genre. As I mentioned earlier I shoot a wide range of subjects, so I have categorized my work to make it easy for you to locate a subject that interests you. The categories include wild creatures, landscapes, people, travel, animals, photojounalism, sports, event,  still life, black & white, daily shot, and client. Any of these stock images can be printed by me or my lab on an archival quality inkjet printer. You may also purchase an image license to use in a blog, advertising, or a publication. In some cases event images can be purchased online. If this is the case you will see a "buy" button in upper right side of the gallery. These images are printed by my lab and shipped directly to you. The Client tab is where you can go to see a sample of my portrait and comercial work.  This is also how a client would find their gallery of images. The Info tab above is where you will find information about me and my business, some of my pricing, and my copyright.  The Daily Shot tab is where I try to remember every day by posting at least one photograph from each day. The Blog tab is where I talk about my newest images, projects, or travels and to help direct you to my latest galleries. The Contact Me tab is a how you can get in touch with me to purchase a print, discuss licensing an image, schedule a photo session, or to simply ask a question. Thanks for stopping by my site and taking the time to view my work. I hope you enjoy what you see! Mark Chapman
