I shot this image in January of 2014. A friend of mine had found this beautiful owl in a wooded area of Reynolds Creek Park, which is on Lake Waco. He generously shared the location with me, so me and my wife went in search of an owl. We stompped around in the woods for a while before my wife called to me in a loud whisper. "Mark, I found the owl" she said. I had walked past the well camoflauged bird, and never would have seen it if it weren't for my wife. This Barred Owl just sat on the limb watching my wife and I, as I shot images for 5 or 6 minutes. The whole while this owl sat and calmly stared at us, while probably thinking "go away so I can get some sleep." So we did. I took quite a few shots in a short time and got out of there, trying to minimize the stress on the owl. This was my first owl photograph. Since then I have photographed a few more owls, and it is always a speacial treat because they are so hard to find.
